As with other bone formations, the ligaments hold the bones together. However, in the pelvis, there are two additional ligaments that define foramen that allow structures to move into and out of the pelvis.

Step 3: Add the sacrotuberous ligament.

Note that the sacrospinous ligament is not identified in our cadaver.

	Step 4: Using the Draw tool, sketch in the sacropsinous ligament in the 3D panel.
	Step 5: Check your work by looking at the female hemi pelvis that has these ligaments identified. The sacrospinous ligament and the sacrotuberous ligament help to define the two of the three pelvic foramen.
	Step 6: Using the Draw tool, identify these foramen on the female hemipelvis: Greater sciatic foramen Lesser sciatic foramen Obturator foramen

	How is the female pelvis different from the male pelvis?
The female pelvis has a circular inlet as opposed to the male pelvis that is more heart shaped.
	Why are they different?
Birth. You will have a chance to examine these differences at the Demonstration Table with actual pelvic models.
