Objectives:

1.3.1 Identify and compare the meninges in the cranial cavity and spinal canal and the dural folds that divide the cranium.

1.3.2 Trace the flow of blood into the cranial cavity. Follow the flow of blood through the cerebral arterial circle.

1.3.3 Indicate the region of cerebrum and cerebellum supplied by each major branch and known vascular interconnections.

1.3.4 Identify the meninges in the cranial cavity and the dural folds that divide the cranium.

1.3.5 Trace the flow of blood out of the cranial cavity.

1.3.6 Identify the interconnections of the dural venous sinuses and known connections between them and the venous system of the head and neck.

Question

One of the distinguishing features of the cervical vertebra is the presence of the foramen transversarium. Why does the vertebral artery not pass through the foramen transversarium of CVII?
