The inter-abdominal cavity contains the following organs:
Step 6: Add the spleen.
Step 7: Add the liver.
Step 8: Add the gallbladder. In order to see the gallbladder, you will have to rotate the cadaver so you can see under the liver.
Step 9: Add the stomach.
These organs are inter-peritoneal and are supplied by the celiac trunk which is a branch off the abdominal aorta.
The stomach joins the duodenum which is retro-peritoneal through an opening in the peritoneal covering.
Step 10: Add the duodenojejunal flexure. The duodenum returns to the inter-peritoneal space at the jucnction of the duodenum with the jejunum. This point is known as the duodenojejunal flexure.
Step 11: Add the jejunum. Our digestive tract flows from the mouth to the esophagus trhough the duodenum to the jejunum.
Step 12: The jejunum connects to the ileum.
The duodenum, jejunum and the ileum are considered the small bowel. This is where most of our nutrients are digested and absorbed.
