OBJECTIVES:

1.3.1 Follow the flow of blood through each of the major coronary vessels.

1.3.2 Describe the venous return from heart musculature and the location and relationship of these veins with the coronary arteries as they drain into the coronary sinus.

1.3.3 Demonstrate the parietal, visceral, and fibrous portions of the pericardium.

	Begin with the heart.
	Add the major vessels entering and leaving the heart.

	This step orientates the heart in a fashion that is similar to the drawing. Using the Dissect tool, remove the aortic arch, pulmonary arteries and veins. What should remain is the aotic trunk and the superior vena cava. This will help with the orientation of the coronary ateries.
	Now we will add all the coronary arteries. Examine these arteries in relation to the base of the aortic trunk by rotating the heart.

	How may coronary arterial openings are there in the aortic trunk?
One each for the left and right coronary arteries.

	Where are these openings in relation to the aortic valve?
They are behind the respective right and left cusps of the aotric valve. They lie in what is referred to as the aotic sinuses.
