OBJECTIVES:

1.2.1 Trace the flow of blood through the right side of the heart, indicating the internal structures of the atrium and ventricle, the valves and the projection of the valves on the chest wall.

1.2.2 Identify the anatomic location of elements of the impulse conducting system of the heart.

1.2.3 Trace the flow of blood through the left side of the heart, indicating the internal structures of the atrium and ventricle, the valves and the projection of the valves on the chest wall.

1.2.4 Compare the course of blood through the heart and great vessels in fetal life to that in adults.

Let us follow the blood flow through the heart starting with the venous return on the right.

	Begin with the superior and inferior vena cava.
	Add the right atrium.
	A third vessel drains into the right atrium. This is the coronary sinus, which will be discussed this week in Module 3.
